DIRECTORS’ GALLERY

 

Ambassador Monteiro Portugal, the first Director of SIEDM was appointed in April 1997.
He was followed in May 1999 by Ambassador Bramão Ramos, who was replaced in November 2002, by Ambassador Caimoto Duarte, who remained in office until February 2005.

Ambassador João da Câmara, a diplomat, assumed office as Director on 6 September 2005 and stepped down from this position in February 2008.
Jorge Silva Carvalho was appointed Director of SIED on 1 April 2008.

DEPUTY DIRECTORS

 

Major-General Vizela Cardoso was the first Deputy Director of SIEDM. He was appointed in July 1998 (and was also interim Director from February to May 1999).
The following Deputy Directors were Heitor Romana, from June 1999 to November 2002;
Major-General Raul Durão Correia, from June 1999 to April 2001; and Captain António Carreiro e Silva, from April 2001 to November 2002.
In November 2008, the position was held by diplomat Paulo Viseu Pinheiro, who became interim Director of SIED between February 2005 and August 2005; and by Coronel Vítor Gil Prata until January 2005.
From January 2006 to June 2008 the position was held by Major-General Dario de Morais Carreira. His successor, between August 2008 and July 2010, was Diplomat Helena Paiva.
In August 2010 João Pereira Bicho was appointed as Deputy Director.
